Finding the Perfect Coach

Sterling with manifestation student, Emily.

Finding the perfect life coach, or any coach for that matter, can be a daunting task. After all, you are trusting someone with your time, energy, money and life! Making an informed choice is the best course of action for making the best choice for you. Hiring a coach is a marriage of sorts. Communication must be open, trusting and harmonious in addition to being effective for getting the results you seek.

This brings me to my first tip:

  1. Compatibility and Accessibility - Are you able to smoothy arrange for a free consultation to determine whether it’s a good fit for the both of you? As with any relationship, compatibility is paramount for any successful partnership.

  2. Website Reviews - Are the images and reviews posted legitimate? Anyone can post reviews on their website and purchase stock photos. How do you know they are legitimate? That brings me to tip number three.

  3. Legit Reviews - Reviews posted on the website should be obtained by trusted sources such as Yelp and Google business postings. Also, remember to read the “filtered reviews” on Yelp. They are incredibly insightful and often real reviews filtered by their algorithm that filters based on the reviewers activity on the site. A new or not used regularly account is not necessarily a good reason to “filter” a review as possibly illegitimate.

  4. Credentials - Be careful to give too much credit to a coach who has been certified. There are a lot of fly-by-night companies offering certifications for life coaching. Their legitimacy must be questioned. Opt for asking the life coach why they are capable of providing the results you desire. What is their success rate and background? Look for longevity, an established reputation, client/student satisfaction.

  5. Transparency - Is the coach you are interviewing willing to connect you with past and/or current clients? This goes for any business. A truly outstanding business has a loyal client base who are willing to stand by what the company promises.
